Wallflower Smart Monitor

Every 6 seconds someone experiences a cooking fire.

Wallflower’s Smart Monitor converts your existing stove into a smart appliance that alerts you before potentially hazardous situations occur.

With Wallflower, you’ll be alerted when the stove is accidentally turned on, someone starts cooking dinner, you leave home with the stove on, or your babysitter, forgetful family members, or rental property tenants forget to turn the stove off.

Remember, when the smoke alarm goes off, it may already be too late.

NOTE: If your stove cord is black, choose 4-wire. If your stove cord is gray, choose 3-wire. Homes built after 1/1/96, most likely have a 4-wire outlet. To be sure, here is how to check.

“We have different babysitters that use the stove when we’re gone so it’s great to be able to make sure they turn it off.”

How do I know if I need a 3-wire or 4-wire version of the Wallflower Stove Monitor?

Electrical code for homes built after 1996 requires the use of a ground wires. Therefore, if your home was built after 1996, and your stove uses a plug and outletfor power, it uses a 4-wire power cord.

If you home was built pre-1996 and was never renovated, and uses a plug and outlet for power, most likely you don’t have a ground wire and your stove uses a 3-wire power cord.

If you home was built pre-1996 and was renovated, the easiest way to check which version of the Stove Monitor you need is to look behind the stove to see the the color of your stove’s power cord. If the cord is grey, most likely it uses a 3-wire connection; if the cord is black, most likely it uses a 4-wire connection. Note that some power cords don’t follow this color pattern so we recommend gaining access to the power outlet and unplugging your stove to verify if it uses a 3-wire or 4-wire power cord. Make sure to turn the stove’s circuit breaker off for safety before proceeding.
